Adams Unseats McNish on Caldwell-West Caldwell School Board
Results of Caldwell-West Caldwell Schools, West Essex Regional Schools and North Caldwell Schools.
Thomas Adams, a retired high school teacher, has edged out longtime board member Maureen McNish by more than 200 votes in the Caldwell-West Caldwell school board election, according to unofficial results posted by the Essex County Clerk's Office Tuesday night.
Adams and Getty received 2,739 and 2,652 votes respectively. Incumbent McNish, who was seeking a fourth term, was unable to keep her seat on the Board with 2,506 votes. The three candidates vied for two open seats on the board.
Ann Fahey beat out Dr. Philip Fiore for the Essex Fells seat on the West Essex Regional Schools Board of Education. Fahey received 389 votes and Fiore received 261 votes in the only contested race in the West Essex School Board election.

Maryadele Wojtowicz ran unopposed for the open North Caldwell seat on the West Essex School Board. Wojtowicz will step down from the North Caldwell Board of Education after serving two terms.
Kristin Bachmann ran unopposed for the Fairfield seat on the West Essex School Board after being appointed to fill the unexpired term of Fairfield board member Paul Rando earlier this year.

Jann Skeleton and Marianne Bohrer ran unopposed for two open seats on the North Caldwell School Board. The two will replace Steven Hadley and Maryadele Wojtowicz, who did not seek re-election.
All three school districts in the Caldwells voted earlier this year to move school board elections to the November general election, a change made possible by a new state law. The school board elections remained non-partisan.
There was no vote on school budgets since the new law allows districts to approve a budget without a voter referendum so long as the budget satisfies a mandated 2% cap to the tax levy.
