Snow Removal: Do You Know the "Rules"?
West Caldwell Department of Public Works reminds residents of what to do—and not to do—so snow could be removed safely and quickly.
The Township of West Caldwell is reminding residents to follow these guidelines for snow removal in order for the Department of Public Works to remove snow as quickly and safely as possible from township roadways.
- Do not park on snow-covered streets and remember to bring in garbage cans and recycling bins when streets are covered with snow. (Township is not responsible for damage to cars or items left near roadway.)
- Do not move snow from driveways and sidewalks into the roadway.
- If possible, wait for your street to be plowed before clearing driveways, sidewalks and mailboxes. According to the township, plows might have to come through roads several times during heavy snowfall. Please be patient.
- Remember to clear snow from around fire hydrants in case of an emergency.
The township will salt roadways before and after storms. However, it will not salt or plow county roadways.
