Two of Three Council Races Uncontested in Caldwells

Monday was deadline to file petitions to run for council.

Monday was the deadline for council candidates to file petitions in order to appear on the ballot in the June primary.

Two open seats will be up for grabs in West Caldwell in November's General Election. Republican Councilmen Stanley W. Hladik and Tom O’Hern filed their petitions and intend to seek second three-year terms on the township council. Democratic candidates Marc Driggs and Frank Mondsini III will challenge the incumbents for their spots on the council.

North Caldwell Republican Councilman Francis X. Astorino and Republican Councilwoman Patricia McGrogan Fost filed their petitions and will seek re-election. No Democratic candidates filed in North Caldwell.

In Caldwell, Republican Councilmen Peter Murray and Richard Hauser will seek second terms. No Democratic candidates filed by Monday’s deadline.

The primary is scheduled for Tuesday, June, 5. The general election will take place the first Tuesday in November.
