Watergate Trial Records Involving West Caldwell Conspirator Released

Court documents involving George Gordon Liddy, formally of West Caldwell, have been sealed since the 1970s.

A judge has ordered the National Archives and Records Administration to release additional court documents involving former West Caldwell resident George Gordon Liddy and the Watergate burglary, according to examiner.com.

Liddy, who grew up in West Caldwell and Hoboken, was convicted with James McCord of burglary, conspiracy and refusing to testify for their roles in the Watergate burglary in 1972. Liddy served about 52 months in federal prisons.

Many court documents from the trial U.S. v. Liddy were released in November 2012, but a judge has ordered additional pages from the trial to be released, according to examiner.com. These additional documents, found here, include:
  • Personal documents regarding living individuals;
  • Documents regarding the content of illegally obtained wiretaps; and
  • Grand Jury information.
The documents have been sealed under court order since the 1970s.
