Pool Opens Memorial Day in 2013

South Orange residents can get their pool passes now

Sure, it's cold out there, but what better time to plan for the pool?

This year the South Orange community pool will open for Memorial Day Weekend, May 25-27 and weekends thereafter through Sunday, June 23rd. Beginning Monday, June 24th, regular season hours will begin.

Residents can begin renewing or obtaining new "pool passes" now. Here's how, from the Village:

South Orange Recreation & Cultural Affairs I.D. Badges for 2013 are available for purchase  and renewal at the Baird. Residents in possession of a 2012 I.D. can renew in person or by mail (see details below).  All purchasing or renewing are encouraged to act now to take advantage of lower fees and to avoid long lines as summer approaches. The benefits of this I.D. badge include access to the community pool, discounts on many department programs and reduced fees for tennis and platform tennis court use.

Residents wishing to purchase or renew a Village I.D. must provide 2 forms of identification verifying South Orange residency.  Acceptable forms of I.D. include a valid driver''s license, car registration/insurance and a current utility bill (less than 2 months old).  The name of the resident and their current South Orange address must appear on each form of identification.

While residents must renew their membership annually, new CARDS are not necessary every year. Since 2011, the cards issued have included a barcode that is reactivated when the membership renewal has been completed. I.D. cards are to be kept by residents for year-to-year renewal.

You held a valid South Orange Dept. of Recreation & Cultural Affairs I.D. Badge in 2012,
You still have your  2012  I.D. card/s, AND

*Children must have photos every 3 years and adults every 5 years. If your child''s card has ''Photo Year: Pre 2011'' printed on the bottom left corner, he/she must have a new photo taken. When photos are requested or required, old I.D. cards must be turned into the Baird at renewal. If prior year I.D. cards cannot be produced, a $10 replacement fee will be charged.
Residents meeting the requirements listed above may submit their renewal information by mail.

Complete the attached application (also available online here).
