North Caldwell Hires Additional Contractors to Help With Snow Storm Clean Up
Town website gets free makeover.
Similar to its, North Caldwell has also hired outside contractors to help clear debris created by the freak .
To speed things up, the DPW has centralized the drop-off of all tree limbs and branches into the parking lot where the Department of Public Works is then chipping up the storm debris.
"We have to get through this," Borough Administrator Mel Levine said. He said DPW employees are already logging seven-day work weeks.

In addition, North Caldwell entered into a shared agreement for a tub grinder with the towns of West Caldwell and Roseland.
The town is also employing a "one and done" rule like West Caldwell. Once a street has been cleared, crews will not return for further pick up of storm debris. Residents always have the option of bundling the debris into pieces no greater than four-feet for their regular bulk garbage pick up.

Website Makeover
While North Caldwell was considering purchasing the services of to revamp the borough's website, officials received another offer too good to refuse—a free makeover, courtesy of North Caldwell Police Department members Sgt. William Texas, Sgt. Thomas Mautone and Officer Michael Credico.
Having worked on the North Caldwell Police Department page on the town's site, the three officers have now offered to use their expertise on the entire website.
As noted on the website, the makeover is still a work in progress. However, the site already has Nixle community service alerts, an e-mail sign-up for alerts from the, and online payment service for traffic tickets. Links to popular community sites, such as libraries, theand the are also included.
"We are so proud of them. They have done an excellent job," Levine said.
Other Town News
At the last North Caldwell Council meeting on Nov. 22, the following actions were taken:
- Nancy Pravata was made a full-time employee from her part-time status. Pravata serves as the Acting Town Clerk and Registrar, replacing full-time employee Susan Best who resigned earlier this year.
- was promoted to Patrolman, Fourth Class, after completing one year of service.
- The town's Annual Celebration of Peace, Joy and Good Will is scheduled for this Sunday, Dec. 4, from 4:30 to 6 p.m. The borough's Christmas tree and menorah will be lit at this ceremony.
