Governor to Talk Budget in Fairfield Town Hall Wednesday

Event will be Christie's ninth in two months, 118th overall.

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie’s traveling road show will make its next stop in Fairfield Wednesday, as the state’s leader holds his 118th town hall event.

The meeting is scheduled for 1 p.m. at the Winston Churchill Elementary School, where Christie plans to discuss his proposed $34.4 billion state budget. The event, where the governor spends time giving a monologue and then taking questions from the audience, will be Christie’s ninth town hall in the past two months.

After making his state of the state address in February, Christie held a town hall meeting in Long Hill Township the following day, where he spent much of his time pounding the state’s pension issues and their impact on the annual spending plan.

Recent town hall meetings have seen Christie opponents disrupt the events by shouting and interrupting with comments regarding improper use of Hurricane Sandy relief funds and the governor’s alleged involvement in the Bridgegate scandal.

Wednesday’s town hall was originally scheduled for 10:30 a.m. but has since been moved. Doors will open at 11:30 a.m., and seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.
