'Fantastic' Montville Employee Begins as West Caldwell Administrator

'West Caldwell just picked up a very talented, very motivated, very driven and very, very focused administrator,' one Montville committeeman said.

After more than 11 years, Montville Township will say goodbye to Assistant Administrator Adam Brewer as he prepares to take his new position as the West Caldwell administrator this week.

Brewer, who announced his resignation earlier this month, will begin in West Caldwell on Wednesday. The Montville Township committee members recently offered kind words to their longtime employee.

"West Caldwell just picked up a very talented, very motivated, very driven and very, very focused administrator," said Montville Committeeman Scott Gallopo.

Montville Mayor Tim Braden called him a "fantastic" employee and recapped Brewer's history with the township. Brewer came to Montville in 2002, serving as a youth services coordinator and served in other roles, including as interim administrator before current Administrator Victor Canning was hired. In 2009, Brewer won an award from Morris County for his recycling efforts for the township.

"It's going to be a big loss to this town. He did a lot in a lot of different areas," Montville Committeeman Jim Sandham said.

The West Caldwell Council appointed Brewer to the position at the end of July for a yearly salary of $103,000. Brewer will take over the position from Michael Bramhall, who is also the West Caldwell Police chief.

Bramhall took over the position in May and received no additional compensation during the search for a full-time administrator.

Of his contributions, Braden said Brewer had done a good job at working with the schools on recycling and garbage programs with the township and even kiddingly labeled Brewer a "certified dumpster diver."

"He will be sorely missed here," he added.
