Eagle Scout's Garden to Bloom in Essex Fells This Spring

Liam Fahey honored for achieving Eagle Scout rank.

The borough of Essex Fells will be a little cheerier this spring thanks to 15-year-old resident Liam Fahey.

In October, Liam led the planting of a garden at the town’s Public Works Building on Runnymede Road for his Eagle Scout Project. His achievement was formerly honored earlier this month at a ceremony attended by Mayor Ed Abbot and Town Council President Patricia Wahl.

Liam is a senior patrol leader in Caldwell Troop 3. He is a freshman at West Essex Regional High School in North Caldwell.

The garden was made possible with the help of Smitty’s Landscaping and Condurso’s Garden Center in Montville.

Eagle is the highest rank achieved by a Boy Scout. In order to become an Eagle Scout, one must demonstrate leadership skills, community service and outdoor skills. The Eagle Scout rank is achieved by about 2.5 percent of all Boy Scouts.
