Durkin Reveals New Running Mate

Democratic Caldwell Council candidate Edward Durkin announces Susan Vezza as his running mate.

Caldwell resident Susan Vezza, a small business owner and teacher, will run for a seat on the Caldwell Council on the same ticket as Democratic candidate Edward Durkin this November.

Durkin announced in a release Saturday that Vezza will replace Stephen Modica, who officially withdrew from the race last Thursday.

The Essex County Democratic Committee accepted Vezza as the new candidate on Friday night, and she will be officially added to the ballot on Monday, according to the release.

“We are excited to get the campaign under way,” Durkin stated. “Susan is a great addition to the ticket.” 

Vezza is a longtime resident of Caldwell. She runs a small business that provides educational consulting services and has taught at in Caldwell.

“I am glad to be running with Edward,” Vezza stated. “He is energetic and has a lot of innovative ideas to bring to the council.”

Durkin and Vezza will challenge Republican incumbents and for two open three-year seats on the council.
