Council Applauds Eagle Scout's Proposed Project

Boy Scout to landscape island in Provost Square.

Caldwell's governing body applauded a local Boy Scout's Eagle Scout project proposal at Tuesday night's council meeting.

Troop 6 Boy Scout Colin Corliss came before the mayor and council Tuesday to present his idea to spiff up the island outside the parking deck in Provost Square.

The Caldwell Public Library's return boxes were recently moved to the island and Corliss said his plan to build a cement platform will make it easier for the public as well as librarians to access the boxes. He also hopes to beautify the spot with "hearty plantings" and a new sign.

Corliss, 16, said to reach the rank of Eagle Scout, scouts are required to do a project based on something that is important to them.

"I want to do something good for the community," he said.

Members of the governing body gave the young man their blessing.

Corliss said he expects to get started in late spring/early summer and have the project completed by early fall. He will work with members of Troop 6 and seek advice from local landscapers.
