Caldwells Residents Can Now Apply For Same-Sex Marriage Licenses

'We are all ready for them,' said North Caldwell Acting Clerk Nancy Pravata.

Residents can now apply for same-sex marriage licenses at the health departments in the Caldwells.

On Monday, officials across the state presided over New Jersey’s first same-sex marriages after a state Supreme Court decision on Friday paved the way for same-sex marriages on Friday, according to Reuters. On Monday, Gov. Chris Christie dropped his appeal of the court ruling to allow gay marriage in the state.

The health department spokespeople of Caldwell, North Caldwell and West Caldwell have yet to receive any inquires or applications for same-sex marriages as of Tuesday. But they said the applications are ready and waiting.
