Caldwell Cops Recommend Homeland Security App

Mobile app links New Jersey residents with state homeland security.

Local police are suggesting a mobile app that connects the public to the New Jersey Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness through mobile devices.

In a Facebook post this week Caldwell Police shared info regarding the NJ-SAFE app that "enables residents of New Jersey and surrounding States to instantly report suspicious activity from a smartphone or mobile device, which is sent directly to the Counter Terrorism Watch personnel who are on duty 24 hours a day."

The app, created by a government focused technology company called NIC Inc., enables users to connect with a 1-866-4-SAFE-NJ terrorism tip line at the click of a button, enter details about an incident, snap a photo, report detailed subject and vehicle descriptions and more.

The "NJ-SAFE" program is available through iTunes and the Google Play store on mobile phones and tablets.
