Caldwell is spending $16,300 to remove a massive amount of snow from Bloomfield Avenue on Thursday.

Five contractors are expected to be working for some 12 hours beginning 7 a.m., according to a report on newjerseyhills.com.

Police are scheduled to be working overtime directing traffic while the hired contractors with dump trucks and snowblowers remove snow.

The Caldwell council wants Bloomfield Avenue’s crosswalks, parking lots, then side streets with metered parking cleared, according to The Progress.

The accumulation of snow had merchants concerned that a lack of parking and clear walkways would impact businesses in the area.

Thank God, aside from the obvious economic impact to our local merchants it's dangerous. You can't see around corners and the municipal lots are a mess.

Bloomfield Avenue in Caldwell, the planters are filled with garbage, we need more receptacles beyond the main shopping area, street lights are out, no one is putting money in the meters, you can't get to them. I'm just saying.
