Bloomfield Ave. Snow Removal Coming Thursday

Local merchants were concerned that road and walkway conditions were impeding business.

Caldwell is spending $16,300 to remove a massive amount of snow from Bloomfield Avenue on Thursday.

Five contractors are expected to be working for some 12 hours beginning 7 a.m., according to a report on newjerseyhills.com.

Police are scheduled to be working overtime directing traffic while the hired contractors with dump trucks and snowblowers remove snow.

The Caldwell council wants Bloomfield Avenue’s crosswalks, parking lots, then side streets with metered parking cleared, according to The Progress.

The accumulation of snow had merchants concerned that a lack of parking and clear walkways would impact businesses in the area.
