A resident of Orton Road notified West Caldwell Police Sunday morning that the sign was missing.
The sign at the entrance of the school was knocked over and removed, according to West Caldwell Police Chief Michael Bramhall.
Bramhall said the ground was wet which could have made the sign easier to take. He estimated the size of the sign to be four-feet wide by six-feet tall. One of the posts was also missing.
