Masked Men Rob, Assault Russillo Employees in Gunpoint Carjacking

One of the restaurant employees suffered a head injury, according to police.

Two men armed with a handgun robbed and assaulted two employees of a Bloomfield Avenue restaurant Saturday night and also got away with one of the employee’s brand new luxury car, according to police.

After closing Russillo Restaurante & Pizzeria, at 675 Bloomfield Ave., for the night around 11:10 p.m. Saturday, two male employees — 43- and 39-years-old — were walking to their car in the restaurant’s parking lot when they were approached by two men wearing ski masks, according to West Caldwell Police.

One of the men in a ski mask brandished a handgun and ordered both of the restaurant employees to get on the ground, according to police.

The men in the ski masks then robbed the two employees of everything on them, according to police. In addition, the men in ski masks stole one of the employee’s 2014 white BMW, according to police.

One of the restaurant employees also suffered a head injury during the robbery, police said. He was transported to Mountainside Hospital in Glen Ridge for treatment, according to police.

The stolen BMW has yet to be recovered as of Sunday night, according to West Caldwell Chief of Police Michael Bramhall. The license plate of the stolen luxury car is A82-DVF.

The investigation is ongoing.
