Accident occurred early Saturday morning near the Green Brook Country Club.

A motorcyclist remained in critical condition Monday morning after crashing near the Green Brook Country Club while trying to elude police over the weekend, the Essex County Prosecutor's Office said.

North Caldwell Police attempted to pull over a motorcyclist who was traveling at a high rate of speed shortly before 7 a.m. Saturday, the prosecutor's office said. The motorcyclist lost control of the bike as he was trying to evade the officers and crashed, the prosecutor's office said. The accident occurred on East Greenbrook Road near the intersection of Woodland Avenue.

The man, whose identity has not been released, remained in critical condition Monday at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center.

The Essex County Prosecutor's Office vehicular homicide and professional standards units are investigating because a police pursuit was involved.
