Caldwell Police Chief James Bongiorno said Tuesday three residential burglaries and one commercial break-in were reported in the last two weeks.

The chief advised residents to lock their doors and windows, particularly on the ground floor, when they are not home. He cautioned against leaving valuables such as jewelry in plain view. “That’s really being targeted,” he said.

Residents going on vacation are advised to notify the police who can keep an eye on their homes while they are out of town. Another good idea is to stop mail and newspaper delivery and put lights on timers.
