Man Charged With Burglarizing Neighbor's Home

Arrest made in connection to wallet reported stolen from Caldwell Community Center.

The following arrest information was provided by the Caldwell Police and does not indicate a conviction.

Police say a Caldwell man has been charged with breaking into his neighbor’s house as well as a car parked on his street.

Jesse Simunovich, 19, was charged with two counts of burglary, theft to a house and theft to a car, according to Caldwell Police Lt. Anthony Marta.

On April 21, Marta said a woman from Little Falls reported her wallet containing two credit cards missing from her car when she left a friend’s house on Personette Street.

On April 27, a burglary took place at 20 Personette, Marta said. Items were reported missing from a master bedroom, including a gold ring, a bracelet and $20 in coins taken from a container on a dresser. Marta said the burglar entered through a window in the front of the house.

Marta said Simunovich was with a friend, Jordan Krakauer, of North Caldwell, later that night when Krakauer allegedly attempted to use one of the stolen credit cards. The card, which had already been cancelled, was denied.

Krakauer was charged with receiving stolen property.

The cases are being handled by the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office.

Theft at Community Center

Peter Lawless, 19, of North Caldwell, was arrested at his home and charged with theft on Thursday, May 3.

Lt. Marta said Lawless entered the in Caldwell early one morning in late April and made his way into the basement weight room where he took a wallet from a gym bag belonging to an employee.

The wallet contained cash and a credit card. Lawless allegedly attempted to use the credit card to purchase cigarettes at the Exxon gas station on Bloomfield Avenue in North Caldwell.

Surveillance video was used in the investigation, according to Marta.
