Robert Paul Grindle, 84, of North Caldwell

He was a successful attorney and loved the Jersey shore, ballet and theater.

Robert Paul Grindle, Esq., 84, died Thursday, April 25, 2013, at his home in North Caldwell, NJ.

Visitation will be at Dancy Funeral Home, 9 Smull Ave., Caldwell, on Sunday, April 28, from 2 to 6 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at Notre Dame Church, North Caldwell, on Monday, April 29, at 10 a.m., followed by the interment at St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia.

Grindle was born and raised in Springfield, Ohio, the son of Harold and Elma (Bets) Grindle. He was a resident of North Caldwell, NJ for 50 years.

In his early years, he loved his home in Ohio. After graduating from high school in 1946, he attended Wittenberg College in Dayton, Ohio. He graduated in 1950 with a bachelor's of arts. He then attended Ohio State University Law School School and graduated in 1954. He was a member of Phi Kappa Psi.

In his early career years, he worked for Marechal & Marechal Law Firm in Dayton, Ohio. He then moved to New York City and worked for Greer Marechal Law Firm. After a successful law career, he retired from Becton Dickinson in 1992 as Senior Patent Attorney.

After retiring, Grindle had the opportunity to enjoy time with his family and friends. He loved spending time at his Loveladies and Harvey Cedars shore homes and entertaining his friends and family.

Grindle had a passion for the performing arts. He often attended the NYC Ballet and the Metropolitan Opera. He loved theater of all levels and attended Broadway and his great nephews’ shows.

He is survived by his sister Gayle Ringwald, his nephews Mark Ringwald and wife Mary, and Stewart Ringwald and his wife Jinlin; his grandnephews John, David, Steven, Evan, and Craig Ringwald.

He leaves behind his lifelong partner, Tony Curreri of 60 years. Tony’s sister, Carmela Curreri  Ford, his nephews James Ford and wife Michele, Timothy Ford and Robert Ford and his wife Denise; his nieces Patricia Ford Rennie and husband Jim, and Caroline Ford Sofo; seven great nephews Jimmy, Michael, Ben, Colin, Trey, James and Nicholas; three great nieces Tana, Julia and Sophia; and many close friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Notre Dame Church, 359 Central Ave., North Caldwell, NJ 07006, in memory of Robert “Bob” Paul Grindle (on the memo line write "Renovation Fund") or the Alzheimer’s Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, D.C. 20090-6011, would be appreciated.
