Ellen Payne, Former HSA President, Dies at 45

A memorial service will be held at St. Aloysius Church in Caldwell Tuesday at 11 a.m.

Ellen M. Payne died Friday at the age of 45, according to an obituary posted on NJ.com. 

The wake for the West Caldwell resident was Monday night. The funeral service will be held at St. Aloysius Church, at 219 Bloomfield Ave., in Caldwell, on Tuesday at 11 a.m.

The interment will follow at Prospect Hill Cemetery in Caldwell.

Payne was the daughter-in-law of former West Caldwell Councilman Bill Payne, who was killed in 2010 when he was struck by a car while he was volunteering as a crossing guard in Caldwell.

Payne was born and raised in Rutherford. She was a graduate of Montclair State University and had a very successful career in sales and sales management at Johnson & Johnson, according to the obituary. 

Payne moved to West Caldwell 16 years ago with her husband. She led an active life in the community as an HSA president and chair for multiple school programs, among other things, according to the obituary. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in her memory be given to the Payne Children's Education Fund in care of Jennifer Payne, at 5 Kanouse Place, West Caldwell, N.J. 07006.
