Rise to the Occasion

In this New Year resolve today that situations may not be perfect, but even challenges present a world of opportunity when we rise to the occasion.

So here we go again. It’s another New Year’s Eve. Every year we make resolutions to lose weight, express our love to those we care about and in some way conquer a challenge in our life. We often hope for the road of least resistance and when we find that the goals we set take a great deal of work we grow discouraged. I know that how it happens for me. So this year, I’ve already accepted that all circumstances may not be ideal, there will be challenges, but what truly matters is if we rise to the challenge.  Our greatest heroes achieve such ‘hero’ status in our minds because they often overcome the most trying of circumstances. Think about the many political losses of Abraham Lincoln, or the impossibility of the colonists facing off against the greatest army in the world. On a less serious note, I love to watch my football team come from behind and snag a win in the most clutch game of the season. We love the underdog because everyone says he should loose, yet he rises to occasion and is victorious. In this New Year resolve today that situations may not be perfect, but even challenges present a world of opportunity when we rise to the occasion. Today, instead believe you have what it takes to be triumphant, refuse to give up and your dreams will spring to life!
