Day 6 of the Indigo Yoga 21 Day Challenge to a Happier and Healthier You

Today’s challenge seems so simple, but is surely a true challenge for many of us!

Today on the 6th day of your challenge to a happier and healthier YOU, Indigo Yoga challenges you to actively listen– Speak less and listen to the meaning behind other people’s words. Do not interrupt a sentence. While another person is speaking, actually LISTEN to what they are saying instead of contemplating your response. So often we feel “awkward” about letting there be silence in a conversation so we try to think about our quick response instead of listening to their message… but perhaps we need to slow down the conversation. You might find that by understanding the meaning behind their words, your response becomes more natural and meaningful anyway. When responding ask yourself –
1) is what I’m about to say completely necessary?
2) Will my response be more beneficial than silence?
3) Will my words offend anyone?

Just like your Momma used to say: “Think before you speak” and "If you've got nothing nice to say, then don't say anything at all!"

Here are some tips for active listening. 10 Steps to Effective Listening

Don't forget - keep track of your eating habits, sleeping patterns, hydration, and activity level today. Eat lots of vegetables, get rid of added sugar, limit gluten and dairy intake and drink plenty of water! Keep a journal and take 5-10 minutes this morning to set an intention and meditate to kick start your day. Wind down with 5-10 minutes at the end of your day by reflecting on the day and record your feelings and results. Send your journal notes or any questions to us at info@indigoyogastudios.com for additional support and guidance.
