Monorah Ceremony Lights Up West Caldwell [VIDEO]

'It's a lot of fun and our town officials are such warm and caring people,' said Rabbi Alan Silverstein of Agudath Israel.

Children and local government and religious leaders gathered around a lit menorah in front of the West Caldwell Civic Center to celebrate Hanukkah Tuesday night.

The crowd of more than two dozen children from the Congregation of Agudath Israel in Caldwell sang traditional Jewish songs and blessings near the menorah around sunset which marked the beginning of the seventh night of Hanukkah.

Rabbi Alan Silverstein, of Agudath Israel, said the community lighting was "a great thrill for all of us."

"It's a lot of fun and our town officials are such warm and caring people," added Silverstein. "[The menorah lighting] is a real pleasure for us."

West Caldwell Mayor Joseph Tempesta Jr., Councilmen Rich Otterbein and Steve Wolsky, and West Caldwell Police Chief Michael Bramhall were also present at the ceremony.
