HLADIK and O'HERN for West Caldwell Council 2012: Engaged in Our Community

West Caldwell Council President Stan Hladik is Chairman of the Finance Committee, and Councilman Tom O’Hern is chairman of the Department of Public Works, yet they remain engaged through other community-focused responsibilities as well.  Stan and Tom sit on various boards and commissions, and view them as opportunities to be a part of promoting these added benefits that West Caldwell offers.  Stan Hladik said, “As the council representative for the Seniors Citizen’s Transportation Committee and the Library Board, it has been a pleasure working with these dedicated volunteers.  I can communicate important information to council, and help get the word out on programs and services we offer our residents.”

Tom O’Hern said, “As the representative for the Municipal Alliance and member of the Camp Wyanokie Commission, we can work towards goals that transcend municipal government and politics, yet still promote services that add value to West Caldwell residents.”

Great programs and initiatives have been born from and are organized by boards and commissions such as “Dine Around the Caldwells,” gazebo concerts, and the very successful Community Garden.  Councilman Joe Cecere said, “Stan and Tom go above and beyond as councilmen by serving their respective boards, and especially through various other volunteer efforts.”

Councilmen Stan Hladik and Tom O’Hern believe in the strength of our community coming together for the greater good, and continue to take active roles in volunteering for this purpose.  One of the many efforts Stan Hladik volunteers for is coaching youth activities; recreation t-ball, flag football, softball and basketball.  Stan stated, “I’m proud to be among the other parents and mentors who volunteer their time for our children.  Volunteer dedication and unity is one of the main reasons why West Caldwell is such a great community to live and raise a family.”

Tom O’Hern actively volunteers as well.  While volunteering in different capacities over the years, most notably he has been a member of the volunteer fire department for 20 years.  Tom said, “Giving back to the community as a volunteer firefighter fills me with great pride.”  Tom continued, “When you look around and see residents that volunteer their time, it’s a tribute to the spirit and dedication they have for our community and the people who live here.”
