2013 Ends On A High Note For Grover Cleveland Conservancy

Grover Cleveland Park Conservancy continues to make improvements in the Essex County park.

As the Grover Cleveland Park centennial year comes to a close, the Grover Cleveland Park Conservancy is celebrating a year of success.

In addition to hosting lectures and presentations, a concert, fishing derby, anniversary reception and Halloween event, the Grover Cleveland Park Conservancy continues to make improvements in the Essex County park.

One sizeable job was the repair of the slate roof on the Children’s House adjacent to the playground. Bay Roofing & Construction, of Fairfield, donated all materials and provided the labor for the restoration estimated at $7,900.

Essex County Executive Joseph N. DiVincenzo, Jr. commended the generous donation, saying, “Over the last 11 years, we have worked with the Grover Cleveland Park Conservancy to modernize athletic facilities and the playground, renovate buildings, stabilize waterways and make Essex County Grover Cleveland Park more handicap- accessible.

"To get the park ready for its 100th anniversary, the conservancy introduced us to Bay Roofing & Construction which, under the direction of Steve Hennigan, donated time and materials to repair the roof on the Children’s Building. This involvement is an example of the community’s pride in the Park and its committed stewardship to ensure it continues to meet the public’s needs.”
