Caldwell Library Collecting Cell Phones for Soldiers

Phones will help buy calling cards for U.S. troops stationed overseas.

The  is participating in Cell Phones for Soldiers.

Gently used cell phones could be donated at the library, 268 Bloomfield Ave., beginning Tuesday, Sept. 11 through Veterans Day, Nov. 12.

Library hours are Monday and Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday, from noon to 8 p.m., and Saturday, from 9 a.m. to noon.

Funds raised from recycling cellular phones will be used to purchase prepaid international calling cards.

Cell Phones for Soldiers was founded by a brother and sister from Massachusetts in 2004 with the mission: "Help Our Troops Call Home."

The non-profit organization has helped provide more than 150 million minutes of free talk time to servicemen and women stationed around the world
