HUNREDS OF DOGS will come to the K-9 Obedience Training Club of Essex County's annual dog obedience trial on Sunday, January 13, 2013 at Verona High School.

The trial attracts approximately 250 dogs and their owners to compete in various obedience events under the sanction of the American Kennel Club (AKC).  Dogs and their owners are at many different levels of ability and experience, from beginner to highly skilled.  One event that is an entry-level competition is "Rally," where dogs and their handlers follow the ins-and-outs of a course.

Competitors are limited to AKC-registered dogs, both pure-bred and mixed-breed.  The public is welcome to attend, and will see many dog breeds in action and meet experienced dog enthusiasts. They may enter any time during the day and stay as long as they like.  All children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

Only dogs registered to compete may attend the event, so please leave pets at home.

The K-9 Obedience Training Club of Essex County, NJ, Inc., is a not-for-profit dog training organization that has operated continuously since its founding in 1944.  Among its many activities, K-9 OTC offers reasonably priced group obedience classes for all breeds and ages of dogs.  Teachers of these classes are experienced dog handlers who are devoted to K-9 OTC's motto that "a trained dog makes a better companion."  Classes are held at the Montclair Cooperative School Annex on Forest Street near Chestnut in Montclair.  For additional information and photos, see the Club's website.
