Alchemy of Vegetable Fermentation @ Essex County Environmental Center w/ Dan Farella

This workshop will offer hands-on
experience, and empower you to make your own healthy fermented foods at home
without the use of electricity or refrigeration. Foods you will learn to make
include sauerkraut, pickles and kimchee. We will explore the process of
fermentation, the many ways of flavoring with spices, as well as tasting and
adding fermented foods to your already existing meals. We will also discuss the
magic and sacredness of the process from the alchemical perspective, as
we learn the healing effects of consuming these nourishing, healing foods. Each
person will leave with a jar of fermented “kraut-chee” and the knowledge to
care for it, eat it, and make lots more!
