Advent Festival-First Presbyterian Church at Caldwell

ALL INVITED TO FREE
ADVENT FESTIVAL

Community residents are invited to
participate in an Advent Festival at the First Presbyterian Church at Caldwell at
2:00 on Sunday, December 1.   The free
Sunday afternoon event offers the opportunity to prepare for Christmas by
making ornaments and other decorations.

                More
than a dozen craft stations will provide something for all ages and skill
levels, appropriate for both individuals and families.  All supplies are provided at no cost, and
helpers will be on hand at each table.
This year’s projects include family Advent wreath banners with candles
for each Sunday of Advent, a few repeat favorites from last year’s festival,
and a number of new, exciting possibilities.

                The
crafting sessions will end at 4:00 and will be followed by a brief devotional
time noting the First Sunday of Advent.
The afternoon will conclude with a short carol sing led by church
members Rey Mercado and Kris George.

                “Each
year we have more people coming to the Advent Festival as a great way of
getting in the Christmas spirit,” says Lynne Stoddard, a church member who is
co-chairing the festival along with her husband, Jack.  “Our church is happy to share the joy of the
season with the community, and everybody looks forward to a great time.”   Many other church members have been involved
in choosing, planning and preparing the array of crafts materials.

                Parents
are encouraged to work with younger children, as this is intended to be an
opportunity to promote family togetherness.
Older children, teenagers, and adults will also find it easy to
participate alone or with a friend.

                There
is no cost to participate, but attendees are invited to contribute a staple
item for the emergency food pantry as a voluntary “admission fee.”  It is necessary to pre-register by no later
than Nov. 24.  Registration can be done
during the Coffee Hour after the 10:00 AM Sunday worship service, or by calling
the church office at 973-228-0310.

                The
First Presbyterian Church is located at 326 Bloomfield Avenue in Caldwell, on the
corner of Bloomfield and Roseland Avenues.
The Advent Festival will be held in the church’s Fellowship Hall,
located at the Westville Avenue side of the church complex.  The hall is easily accessible by elevator.
