How Did The Caldwells Vote In The Special Senate Election?

While the Democrat Cory Booker may have won a majority of votes yesterday to become the next Senator from New Jersey, he did not carry the Caldwells. 

Statewide, Booker handily beat Republican Steven Lonegan, a former mayor of Bogota in Bergen County, 55 to 44 percent. Booker will now fill the Senate seat left vacant by Frank Laugtenberg who died June 17 . He was 89. 

But Lonegan won the majority of votes in the three Caldwells. The Republican and Tea Party favorite carried 52 percent of the Caldwells, beating Booker 2,634 to 2,403 votes, according to preliminary results.

Lonegan won both West Caldwell and North Caldwell in Wednesday's special election, receiving 1,223 and 681 votes, respectively, compared to Booker's 1,081 and 527 votes, respectively. 

Booker, the Mayor of Newark, did edge out Lonegan in Caldwell, receiving 795 votes compared to Lonegan's 730.
