Opinion: Lanfrank's Experience, Platform Set Her Above The Rest

The following letter to the editor was written by Terry Di Masi, of West Caldwell.

I am writing to support Marie Lanfrank for the Caldwell-West Caldwell Board of Education.

Marie is a long time resident of Caldwell. As a retired education administrator her wealth of experience in the many different facets of education undoubtedly makes her the best candidate for the Caldwell-West Caldwell Board of Education.

Marie’s F.A.C.T.S. platform is the only one that addresses specific aspects of the educational system i.e., finance and facilities, academics, communication, technology and staff.

For the past five years she attended virtually every Board of Education meeting questioning agenda items or commenting on motions. Her attendance at these meetings has enabled her to keep abreast of the progress the district is making, the issues they face, and the concerns of parents and community members.

She was instrumental in getting the district to adhere to the Open Public Meetings Act by changing their agendas to written motions and providing the public with the opportunity to address agenda items prior to the board members voting on them.

As a founding member, former chairperson and current trustee of the Caldwell-West Caldwell Education Foundation that provides grants to teachers to incorporate innovative ideas into their lessons, to be able to purchase and use the latest instructional technology, and to enhance or initiate new programs or services, Marie has gained insight into what is needed to ensure a quality educational experience for students.

She was also the impetus behind the Taste of the Caldwell’s, Dancing with our Community Stars, Adopt-A-Chair and Teacher Tribute Cards, raising more than $150,000 for all the schools in the district.

Marie is a taxpayer and homeowner who is committed to being fiscally responsible and finding ways to enhance the educational opportunities for all students without putting an additional burden on the taxpayers.

She is an articulate, outspoken, and dedicated individual who is the one candidate that has the experience and skill to make positive changes for your children and grandchildren.

On November 5, vote for Marie Lanfrank. I know I will.

There are two seats on the Caldwell-West Caldwell Board of Education up for grabs this November that carry three-year terms.

Incumbent board members Rosanne Hansen and John King will seek reelection, and will be challenged by Dan Cipoletti, Marie Lanfrank and Charles Alberta.
