West Essex CERT Training Starts Tuesday

The training is open to North Caldwell residents aged 18 and up.

The West Essex Community Emergency Response Team and North Caldwell are teaming up to look for new members to join the team.

Residents of North Caldwell who are 18 and older can take a two-week CERT training course starting Tuesday in Cedar Grove at the Essex County College Police Academy. The course is offered by the Essex County Office of Emergency Management and assisted by active West Essex CERT volunteers. 

Training will be held Tuesday, July 11, 16 and 18 from 7-11 p.m. and on July 20- from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

During this 5-day training session, you will be a certified member of the team and trained in:

  1. Disaster Preparedness
  2. Fire Safety and Utility Controls
  3. Medical Operations-light triage Pt 1
  4. Medical Operations-light triage Pt 2
  5. Light Search and Rescue
  6. CERT Organization
  7. Disaster Psychology
  8. Terrorism
  9. Disaster Simulation
