Trinity Academy Saints Capture Baseball Championship

Team capped unbeaten spring with win over Roseland Rangers in final.

Trinity Academy Saints boys baseball team went undefeated this spring and won the West Essex Sports Alliance Championship.

The 7th- and 8th-grade Saints defeated the Roseland Rangers 12-2 in the championship game on June 22 and ended the season 9-0. The team kept the game even in the early innings. But Trinity, led by the strong pitching of Francis Prior, Eric Raio and Michael DeDonato, along with several late inning scoring rallies, pulled away and completed an undefeated season.

Standout fielding and batting performances were turned in by Trinity catcher Conner Harrington along with infielders Ron Burgers, Dom DelGuercio and Ben Ballway. Key outfielding duties were shared by Kobe Washington, Justin Torluici and Peter Arleo.

Important contributions during the season were made by first baseman Aidan Mihalik and infielder Ben Amoreno. Prior, the closing pitcher, also hit several home runs during the year including hitting for a cycle.

The team was led this spring by head coach Todd Harrington and assistant coach Joe DeDonato.
