Hypnotist Visits High School, Firefighters Compete in Rib-Eating Contest and More in the Week Ahead

A look at the week ahead and what stories Patch plans to cover.

Here are some of the stories we're working on and what's happening this week in the Caldwells. See you around!

—The Caldwell-West Caldwell Board of Education will meet on Monday at 7:30 p.m. at Harrison School on Gray Street in West Caldwell. The board is expected to vote on a new emergency notification system for the district.

—The North Caldwell Council will meet on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at Borough Hall on Gould Avenue.

—The Gridiron Club, a booster club for James Caldwell High School football, will host Skylr the Hypnotist on Wednesday, Oct. 10 at the West Caldwell high school.

—The first annual Caldwell Fire Dept. Rib-Eating Contest in conjunction with Hog Wild BBQ will take place on Saturday, Oct. 13 on the municipal parking deck at the corner of Bloomfield and Roseland avenues. There are nine area fire departments competing for the trophy!

—The Torok family is holding "Hearts of Hope," a benefit for the Children’s Cardiomyopathy Foundation, at the Women’s Club of Caldwell, 31 Westville Ave., on Sunday, October 14, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Read Anna Torok's story here.
