Bring in the New Year Close to Home

Businesses and restaurants about the town offer lots of alternatives.

What are you doing for New Year's Eve? It is a question that we both ask and answer multiple times during the holiday season. But, if you haven't made those big plans yet, never fear, the Caldwells are bursting with ideas on how to have a fun New Year's Eve celebration, whether out on the town or in the comfort of your own home.

Need the Nightlife?

If you would like to toast in the New Year with neighbors and friends from about town, the Caldwells offer several venues for a nightcap or two.

 will be serving up your favorite cocktails and an a la carte menu, complete with a deejay and dance floor from 9:30 p.m. until closing. For reservation information, contact 973-226-8889.

The restaurant also has five bottles of Sam Infinium in stock available on a first-come basis. Prefer a good beer? For every four people, the Cloverleaf is offering one complimentary 750ml bottle of Cuvee Rene, plus a free commemorative Lindeman's toasting glass. Make a reservation for 9:30 p.m. or later and ring in the New Year with a great beer.

Eat Dessert First!

If you are hoping for a sweet treat later in the night, head out to or . Open until 9 p.m., Cupcakes Galore offers its unique variety of filled and unfilled cupcakes. If you were hoping for a smooth and creamy treat, consider D'Lites, but go early. The newest frozen treat store is only open until 4 p.m., so consider bringing home a pint, quart or even a half-gallon to save for later in the evening.

Movie Madness

Looking to get out of the house for a few hours? Consider stopping by the . The theater has a variety of movies to satisfy the young, old and everyone in between, including The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, Little Fockers, Tangled, The Tourist, and Yogi Bear. Check the theater's website for specific movie times and ratings.  

Not really in the mood for going out? Then, curl up on the couch with a rental or two from . Open until 10 p.m., the movie and game rental store is fully stocked for the holiday. While you are there, you can also grab a few nibbles for the movie with their 3 for $3 or 5 for $5 snack deals.

Dining In

But, what about dinner? Whether you are in the mood for pizza or Chinese, sushi or sandwiches, the Caldwells have a variety of restaurants open for takeout on New Year's Eve.

The evening wouldn't be complete without a bit of the bubbly! Whether you prefer sparkling apple cider or a pop-the-cork variety, the local liquor stores are open for business, including  until 10 p.m., until 7 p.m., and until 9 p.m.
