Book Drive Begins at Caldwell Library

"Books for Kids" will be distributed throughout Essex County via the Newark and Irvington Public Libraries.

The Caldwell Public Library's annual “Books for Kids” book drive is under way.

Last year, thousands of children with limited access to books from all across New Jersey were given the chance to own a book of their very own through this program.

Books for children from preschool through age fourteen are needed. A drop box is available in the Children's Room at the Caldwell Public Library, 268 Bloomfield Ave., in Caldwell.

Started in 1991, “Books for Kids” is a statewide program sponsored by the New Jersey Library Association’s Children’s Services Section. This program is undertaken with the hope that all children will be able to experience the joy of reading books of their very own. Each year, with the help of more than 200 libraries, thousands of books are distributed to children across the state.

Book donations will be accepted through Thursday, Dec. 20, and will be distributed throughout Essex County via the Newark and Irvington Public Libraries.
