Caldwell Council Race Results Up in Air

The Caldwell Council race was too close to call on Election night. With all districts reporting, Republican incumbent Richard Hauser and Democratic candidate Edward Durkin were in the lead for the two open seats on the borough council. Hauser received 1,503 votes and Durkin had 1,500 votes, according to early results posted by the Essex County Clerk.

Electrical Wires Wreak Havoc in West Caldwell

A Waste Management garbage truck snapped dangling power lines at the intersection of Bloomfield and St. Charles avenues dragging one of the live wires down onto the truck. The incident occurred when the truck was picking up garbage at an apartment complex on Bloomfield Avenue and hit the low-hanging wires.

A 66-year-old man was struck by a car while crossing Bloomfield Avenue in West Caldwel.
