Kiwanis Special Playground Opens at Harrison School

A ribbon-cutting ceremony for the all-inclusive playground is scheduled for Wednesday.

As the Kiwanis of Caldwell/West Essex celebrates their 90th anniversary, they will join the Caldwell-West Caldwell School District to celebrate the official opening of the Kiwanis Special Playground at Harrison School, West Caldwell, on Wednesday, July 23, at 11 a.m.

The playground, a gift from the Kiwanis Caldwell/West Essex to the school district, is designed to promote all-inclusive play among students with special needs and their peers. The playground, equipped with walkways, ramps, hand rails and landings to assist children with mobility issues access to the play equipment, is built lower to the ground, making it safer for students. The equipment is also built with materials that are both durable and reliable, allowing every child to engage in the space provided while minimizing the possibility of pinched fingers or torn clothing.

Members of the Kiwanis of Caldwell/West Essex, Superintendent Dr. James Heinegg, staff and students invite you to the ribbon cutting ceremony on Wednesday, July 23, at 11 a.m. at the Harrison School, West Caldwell.
