It was the biggest show in town!

This photo was taken at one of the raucous clown parades that heralded the arrival of the Kiwanis Kapers into Caldwell during the 1900s.  "COME & SEE KIWANIS KAPERS" reads the side of the car.  "IT'S A WOW!

The Kiwanis Kapers was a hugely popular annual extravaganza that was the Caldwell-West Essex  Kiwanis Club's major fundraiser for many years. This photograph  is part of an exhibit of photographs of historic Caldwell   featuring  photos of the Kiwanis Kapers and the Fire Department -- on display at the Caldwell Public Library  through December.   Join us on Oct 3 at 6:30 p.m at the library when Kiwanis member Doug Denman will share his memories of the Kiwanis Kapers, -- once the biggest show in town!
