ELMWOOD PARK, NJ (April 11, 2014) – As a community bank headquartered in Elmwood Park, NJ, participation in charitable efforts that enhance the quality of life in the region is part of Spencer Savings Bank’s mission. In March of 2014, Spencer once again supported Special Olympics NJ, raising more than $19,500 as part of the 8thannual New York Giants Snow Bowl Flag Football tournament at MetLife Stadium.

Spencer’s team, the “Blue Diamonds,” was comprised of 16 members from throughout the organization who competed in the Recreational Division of the Flag Football event held on Saturday, March 22. The tournament included three 30-minute games, and was by all accounts an enjoyable culmination of the team’s record-setting efforts to raise funds for the organization. The bank’s donation supports the more than 23,000 Special Olympics athletes throughout the state who train and compete annually in 24 Olympic-style events.

“The mission of Special Olympics NJ, which enables children and adults with intellectual disabilities to experience the rewards of competition, community and team-building, is one that Spencer Savings Bank supports fully,” says Spencer Savings Bank Chairman, President and CEO José B. Guerrero. “We are thrilled to once again be a part of this amazing event.”
