What Should Replace Former Furniture Store on Bloomfield Avenue?

The former D. Marie Home takes up multiple store-front windows and has the potential to be split up into small boutiques.

In this installment of Visions for Vacancies, The Caldwells Patch asks: What do you think should move into 351-57 Bloomfield Ave., the former D. Marie Home?

The former furniture store left a large vacancy in the heart of Caldwell's business district. Located in a busy and well-walked area of Bloomfield Avenue, the single story building fills multiple store-front windows and has the potential to be split into many small boutiques.

The available store is near clothing boutiques, Rockn' Joe Coffeehouse and restaurants. There is also a free municipal parking lot nearby and metered on-street parking in front of the building.

All possibilities are on the table. We ask you to forget what zone it's in, ignore setback regulations, dump-lot coverage rules, and all the other zoning jargon that puts most people to sleep. If you had your way, what would you like to see there? What would be the best use for the community?

The Caldwells have plenty of nail salons and pizzerias, so let's take those off the table. What do you think is missing from the Caldwells' main drag?
