Who Should Fill Friendly's Spot?

What kind of business could grow under West Caldwell's old cucumber magnolia tree?

Friendly's in West Caldwell served its final meal in October. For more than four months, the former restaurant has stood vacant, leaving locals with nothing but memories and cravings for those famous Reese's Pieces sundaes.

But 632 Bloomfield Ave. is known for more than the family-favorite restaurant that occupied the brick building for more than 40 years. This is also the location of the township of West Caldwell's iconic Cucumber Magnolia tree, which officials have promised will be protected by whoever moves in next.

Speaking of moving in, it's time to start day-dreaming... What is your vision for this vacancy?

Move Angeloias or what ever that name is on Brookside down to Friendlys and help the parking in our town

As a long time resident of Melrose Place a drive through should never be an option for that property. I hope they would think about the neighborhood behind the property before moving forward with that type of idea.

New Jersey needs a Steak 'n Shake. Shoestring fries and super thick shakes, I can only get when I'm in Florida. The old Friendly's is the perfect spot for one.

Not a bad idea Scott. It can be yours for anywhere from $450k-$1.8M. http://www.steaknshakefranchise.com/costs-and-qualifications-requirement-information.php
