Snapshot: Genc's Pizza Grand Opening

Owners of Gencarelli's in Newark open up on other end of the avenue.

Salvatore Gencarelli Sr. opened Pizzaroma in Kearney in 1977, selling large pies for $2.

Today, Gencarelli joined his three children, Eugene, Pina and Sal Jr., as they celebrated the grand opening and ribbon cutting of Genc's Pizza on Bloomfield Avenue in Caldwell. Dubbed the "Home of the $5 Pie," the 16" plain pie at Genc's is indeed five bucks all day, every day.

It's an offer they've given their patrons for six years now at their other restaurant, Gencarelli's, located at the opposite end of Bloomfield Avenue in Newark.
