Local Businesses Taking Orders For Rosh Hashanah

The Jewish New Year, begins at sundown on Wednesday, Sept. 4, and ends at sundown on Friday, Sept. 6.

Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, begins at sundown on Wednesday, Sept. 4, and ends at sundown on Friday, Sept. 6.

Area restaurants, delis and bakeries are gearing up for the holiday, taking orders for traditional meals and desserts. Here's a sampling:

Red's Dips and Flips located at 800 Bloomfield Ave. in West Caldwell has prepared a special menu for Rosh Hashanah. Orders will be available for pickup starting at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 3. The menu includes Barbi's Best Chopped Liver, Matzoh Balls, potato pancakes, braised brisket, and homemade chicken broth with carrot.

Argyle Marketplace, 359 E. Northfield Road in Livingston, has also posted its Rosh Hashanah 2013 menu, which includes lots of heat-and-serve options. Orders must be placed by noon on Saturday, August 31. Menu and order form are available online.

Cupcakes by Carousel at 25 Church St. in Montclair is currently taking orders for Rosh Hashanah. Orders must be placed by Thursday, August 29. Choose from white and apricot or chocolate and raspberry jelly rolls, rugelach, sponge, chip, marble and honey loaves, and more. Stop in or call with your order, 973-707-2589.
