Residents can now stay in town for their daily yoga class.

Indigo Yoga, at 355 Bloomfield Ave., opened on Dec. 1. Caldwells Native Stephanie Romano and her husband Craig Parcells own the studio. With classes every morning and evening seven days a week, Romano said she is trying to offer “something for everyone.”

Romano, who graduated from James Caldwell High School in 2006, said the dearth of yoga studios in the Caldwells inspired her to bring yoga to her hometown.

In addition, Romano said her entire family has a passion for yoga. She and her mother Cindy received their teaching certification together three years ago. The two, now certified yogis, will be teaching classes at the studio.

“It’s not only that has created a bond between me and my family, but now its something I’m sharing with the entire community where I grew up,” said Romano.

This is not the two’s first time running a small business. She and her husband currently own and operate CrossFit Hoboken, a gym and fitness center. In addition, Parcells will open CrossFit Caldwells a few doors down from Indigo Yoga in the coming months.

“It’s a tag-team project,” said Romano about opening the dual business on Bloomfield Avenue.

Indigo Yoga will have a variety of different classes, including yoga for beginners, power yoga, vinyassa flow and, coming in 2014, hot yoga.

The next time you are walking in downtown Caldwell, stop into Indigo Yoga and say hello to newest local business on the block.
