Free Workshop for Women-Owned, Minority-Owned and Small Businesses

Women-owned, minority-owned and small businesses in New Jersey are invited to participate in a free bonding readiness program. The Essex County Bonding Readiness program is an eight-week, comprehensive business development course.

The goal is for each contractor who successfully completes the program to obtain a bond, bond line or an increase to his or her bonding limit. The next session will be held from Thursday, Sept. 13 to Thursday, Nov. 1, 2012.

“The Essex County Office of Small Business Development and Affirmative Action is committed to promoting business opportunities for small, women and minority-owned vendors,” said Essex County Executive, Joseph DiVincenzo, Jr.

The workshops will focus on topics such as Managing a Small Business, Accounting and Financial Management for Construction, Banking and Financing for Small Businesses, Bonding Readiness, Preparedness to Do Business with the Government, Project Management, Claims and Dispute Resolution, and Managing Growth.

Ideal candidates should possess a minimum of two years business experience, financial records covering profit and loss, a history of successful project experience and a commitment to complete the program.
