At 3 p.m. Saturday, women and girls getting manicures and pedicures at a West Caldwell nail salon suddenly stopped what they were doing and broke into a dance routine.
What exactly were they up to?
The group at was one of more than 300 groups around the United States and Canada joining in on what was dubbed the “World’s Largest Simultaneous Flash Mob.”
The event was a giant publicity effort by Body by Vi Challenge, a health and fitness company celebrating the one millionth member to take on the Body by Vi Challenge.
The flash mob was inspired by Alfonso Ribeiro (Carlton from The Fresh Prince of Bel Air) and powered by members of the Body by Vi Challenge Community, including West Caldwell resident Sherri Santasieri, Presidential Director, ViSalus Sciences.
The approximately three-minute routine included clips of “It’s Not Unusual” by Tom Jones, and “I’m Sexy and I Know It” and the “Party Rock Anthem” by LMFAO.
“We made history in our sleepy little town of West Caldwell,” Santasieri said. “ViSalus accomplished what it intended to do to—celebrate its one-millionth person joining the 90 Day Fitness Challenge, and with the help of over 50,000 people participating in over 300 locations across the United States and Canada, we broke the record.”
