Women's Club of Caldwell Sponsors Student Art Contest

Submissions must be received by Thursday, May 22.

The Women’s Club of Caldwell is sponsoring a Student Art Contest in conjunction with the Caldwell Merchant’s Association Art on the Avenue.

This year Art on the Avenue will take place along Bloomfield Avenue in Caldwell on Saturday, May 31, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The rain date will be Sunday, June 1, from noon to 5 p.m.

Students in kindergarten through twelfth grade are invited to participate in the contest. The theme of this year’s contest is “Shop Downtown.” Pictures can include images of people shopping or of your favorite local store or stores.

Student artwork will be grouped for judging in four categories; Kindergarten to Second Grade, Third through Fifth Grade, Sixth through Eighth Grade and Ninth through Twelfth Grade.

Artwork will be judged on the originality, the artistic composition and interpretation of the theme “Shop Downtown," according to officials.

All artwork submitted will initially be judged by members of the Women’s Club of Caldwell. Finalists will be displayed at Art on the Avenue for final judging on May 31.

The finalists will be judged by a group of independent professional artists.

First Place winners in each group will receive prizes and ribbons will be given to first, second and third place winners. The winners will be announced at 2:30 p.m. on the day of the show.

First, second and third place winning artwork in each category will be displayed at the Caldwell Public Library from June 2 to June 13.

All entries must be submitted by Thursday, May 22, to the Caldwell Library, 268 Bloomfield Ave., Caldwell. A flier with detailed contest rules and submission information can be found at the Caldwell Library, the West Caldwell Library, and the Women’s Club of Caldwell website.
