West Caldwell Native Earns Oscar Nod

Jason Cohen's documentary 'Facing Fear' is nominated for a best short doc Oscar.

Filmmaker and former West Caldwell resident Jason Cohen has received an Oscar nod for his 2013 documentary “Facing Fear.”

The James Caldwell High School graduate—now a California resident—was nominated for a short subject documentary late last month, according to The Progress.

The documentary tells the story of Matthew Boger, who as a gay 13-year-old," endured a savage beating at the hands of a group of neo-Nazis. Twenty-five years later, he meets one of them again by chance."

The Oscars are scheduled for March 2.
